Filming - Location

These are the photos taken from when we were on set filming. There are two different locations in the post, the first being in Lincoln, filming the urban performance based shots with the main actor, Gideon and the second being at our other actor's house, Kim shooting the pole dancing scenes.

The shots in the urban location give this feel that we wanted, it has the connotations of a hip-hop film instantly. The composition of the shots was chosen carefully to help portray this. The urban built up area is a connotation of hip-hop and the way Gideon was placed in the shot made him seem powerful and the center of attention. Small things in the background like the barbed wire, graffiti and railings are often a convention of hip-hop, these elements are conventions of the "ghetto" which is were the genre originated from.

The images below are from the second location.

As mentioned in earlier posts, using the attractive girl is instantly signifying power, sexiness and wealth to the male in the following shots, again a convention of hip-hop. A variety of shots were used and they then came together to make some very well composed and professional looking scenes. These shots were filmed in the dark as the mise-en-scene wouldn't fit correctly with our genre.
